Even though we are in the midst of summer right now, the fall season is just around the corner and this is a perfect time to plan a perfect fall foliage trip. As a fall foliage destination, Nami island will not disappoint. The fall season arrives in South Korea around late October to early November. Nami island is famous for the winter scenery but autumn in Nami island is also incomparable. This island is on the first list of the most popular tourist destinations in South Korea as the so-called Winter Sonata drama was filmed in this island. Winter Sonata, released in 2002, is a Korean drama about young couple in love when tragedy strikes, and this drama is said to have started the K-Drama craze throughout Asia and the rest of the world.
There are two ways to get to Nami Island : Ferry or Zipwire
My friends and I came here during weekend so we had to line up to take the ferry. IF you are a thrill seeker and want to avoid the crowd of tourists, you can try the Zipwire (Fare: KRW 38,000)
Nami Island was formed as a result of the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam. It is a half moon-shaped isle, and on it is the grave of General Nami, who led a great victory against the rebels in the 13th year of the 7th king of the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejo (reign 1455-1468). Namiseom Island is 63 km away from Seoul in the direction of Chuncheon, and is famous for its beautiful tree lined roads. The island is 30 minutes away from Chuncheon and an hour away from the suburbs of Seoul. Since it is not far from Seoul, many couples and families come to visit. (Source: english.visitkorea.or.kr)

By Subway
From Gapyeong (가평) Station you can take the shuttle bus that goes all the way round to Gapyeong tourist resorts (Nami Island, Petite France, and the Garden of Morning Calm). It costs only KRW 5,000.
