Everland

Updated: Feb 13, 2019

Who doesn’t love amusement park? From children to adults, every one loves theme park. Everland, located in Yongin (Gyeonggi-do), is the biggest and must-visit theme park in Korea. Without a doubt, Everland is Korea's best amusement park. Unlike other amusement parks, which provide more roller coasters, Everland takes on more of carnivals, shows, exhibitions, gardens, and animals. Although it takes quite a long time to go here from Seoul, Everland will not disappoint you. There are also different themes depending on different seasons; Rose festival (May-June), Summer Splash (June-September), Happy Holloween (September-October) and Winter Wonderland (Nov-early March). I recommend you to visit Everland in December (despite of the cold weather) since it hosts a lot of Christmas festivals with a fantastic display of lights and fireworks that is sure to let you immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit.

Upon entering the park, a gigantic, 13-meter-tall tree, called Everland Tree, instantly attracts photo-crazy tourists, and for good reason. Depending on the season, the tree is decorated with thousands of real flowers, ghastly ghosts, or Christmas lights and plays music.

Everland is spread out over a large, hilly area that requires a lot of walking, which can be rather hellacious in extreme weather (especially winter). The Sky Cruise gondola and Skyway chair (cable car) lift make navigating Everland easier.

Just like other amusement parks, you can enjoy some parades in Everland. With their impressive floats and beautifully costumed characters, Everland's parades are enchanting. The parade themes change each season, and commit to those themes well.

Each night, Everland hosts a spectacular fireworks. Get to the Rose Garden at least thirty minutes before the show starts to get a good viewing spot.
